The JUMC Food Pantry is open every Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. If Ashe County Schools are closed, the Food Pantry will be open the next day that school is in session. We generally serve between 30 and 50 families every week. Our Pantry started in 2005. We are a partner with Second Harvest Food Bank in Winston Salem and approximately 75% of our food comes from them. The rest comes from Federal food assistance, the church budget and donations.
“Bring them here to me,” he said. And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.
